Amaya is a member of the Class of 2022 at Winston-Salem State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.  She has decided to return to WSSU to obtain an additional degree in Rehabilitation Studies while also utilizing her remaining years of athletic eligibility.

About

A native of Winston-Salem, NC, Amaya Tucker was blessed to have a successful academic and athletic career her entire life.  Amaya was a highly recruited athlete with multiple scholarship offers at both the DI and DII levels.  She left her mark at Reagan High School amassing over 1600 points, 500 rebounds, 350 assists, and 250 steals along with numerous local, regional, and state awards.  ESPN rated Amaya with an 89 grade and one of the top 100 point guards in the nation in her class.

After a long decision process, she decided to remain in Winston-Salem and attend Winston-Salem State University and has never looked back.

At WSSU, she continues to excel academically and athletically.  Amaya has earned a spot on the Dean’s List her entire career and continues to insure that academics remains her top priority.  Her athletic achievements include CIAA All-Conference, CIAA All-Rookie Team, CIAA Rookie of the Year,  and NCCSIA College Division All-State Team all earned during her freshman season.  Prior to her sophomore year, she was named to the pre-season All CIAA team and was on her way to a stellar season before it was cut short due to an injury.

After a medical redshirt and a missed season due to COVID-19, Amaya is eager to return to the floor to represent WSSU and the city of Winston-Salem while bringing excitement to the fans of women’s athletics.
